Lions KidSight USA
Lions KidSight USA is a nationwide vision screening program run by Lions with support from Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). The program provides children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years with critical eye screenings that can detect relatively common conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and amblyopia—which is sometimes called “lazy eye”—as well as rare and dangerous conditions like retinoblastoma.  Frankenmuth Lions Club members are trained in the use of the equipment utilized for this screening.  The screenings are made available to the community periodically for all children 6 months to 6 years of age.

Scholarship Program
The Frankenmuth Lions Club has a long history of awarding scholarships to deserving students from Frankenmuth High School.  The first scholarships were for $300 each and were awarded to two students from the second graduating class of FHS.
Since that time the Lions Club has awarded scholarships to almost 300 recipients, in amounts of $300 to $1,000 for each recipient, for a total of $220,000.

Selection of recipients for the Frankenmuth Lion's Club scholarships is made from applications received through Frankenmuth High School on the basis of the qualifications listed below, not necessarily in the order listed:

  • Scholarship
  • Need--family income and number of siblings attending college
  • Other funds available from other sources and scholarships
  • Expense of tuition and room and board of chosen college
  • Volunteer work done by applicant
  • Extra-curricular activities
  • Preference given to close relative of Frankenmuth Lion's club member, if all other criteria are acceptable
